Toss 'em in there
No need to soak! Wood chunks work best without a soak. When wet wood is used to cook, it cannot produce enough smoke to achieve the smoky flavor you’re looking for. Don’t worry, the Oak is still doing it’s job even after it has diminished to embers.
We've all been there
-More smoke doesn’t mean more flavor
-No Peeking! Trust the process and limit the amount of times you open the lid.
-Allow the blocks to rest on top of the coals and soot, not nestled in it.
-Gas grill? No worries, try an aluminum foil smoking packet.
What should I smoke first?
Oak pairs well with just about anything! Try it with pulled pork or smoked chicken wings. We're already smacking our lips! Add a block of apple, cherry, or hickory wood to our Whiskey Barrel Smoking Blocks for a new and unique flavor to your favorite recipe.
